MARRIED 
 
Sunday last at Caldbeck, by the Rev Mr. BURNE, Mr. SIMPSON, to Miss SCOT.-At
the same time and place Mr. GADHOUSE, to Miss WILSON; all of Caldbeck. 
[According to FamilySearch, the two couples were Percival SIMPSON and Sarah
SCOTT; and Robert GADDES and Grace WILSON; all married on 16 Feb 1777 at
Caldbeck.] 
 
DIED 
 
Monday last, in Cross-street, Mrs. HOW, relict of the late Peter HOW, Esq.
her remains, we hear, will be interred at the Old Church this afternoon. 
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Christian HOW was buried on 06
Mar 1777 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.] 
 
Sunday last, at Maryport, in the prime of life, Mr. ADLEY, Inn-keeper in
that place, and a few hour's afterwards, Mrs. ADLEY, his wife. The bodies
were interred in one grave, at Dearham church on Monday, when a pathetic
discourse, suited to this remarkably solemn occasion, was delivered by the
Rev. Mr. SHARPE. This couple, so suddenly snatched at the same time from the
concerns of this life, have left, to the humane and commiserating
public,-the dearest and most considerable part of their possessions-Six
Orphans, the youngest of which is only five years of age. 
[According to a Dearham BT Transcript, John ADLEY, Inholder, & Ann his wife
were both buried in the same grave aged 43 on 03 Mar 1777.] 
 
A few days ago at Carlisle, Mr. William BELL, formerly an eminent hatter
there; an ample fortune of which he was possessed, he squandered away
principally in vague attempts to discover the Longitude; he died in the 70th
year of his age, having been for some time past supported at the parish
expence. 
 
Sunday last, at Cockermouth, Mrs. BEEBY, wife of Mr. BEEBY, skinner. 
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Mary BEEBY, wife of George, was
buried on 04 Mar 1777 at Cockermouth.]
