DIED
A few days ago, in London, Mrs. PEARSON, widow of the late Mr. Alderman
PEARSON of Carlisle.
Thursday last, Mrs. Mary TURNER, mother of Mr. TURNER, tobacconist in
Queen-street.
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Mary TURNER, aged 85, was buried
on 24 Feb 1777 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]
Last Sunday, in an advanced age, Mr. John WILLIAMSON, watch-maker in Queen
street, formerly of Frizington Hall near this town. He was a person eminent
for his abilities and extensive knowledge in Mechanics, Mathematics, and
Chymistry;-and though so naturally modest that he was never known to
endeavour at displaying his great talents, yet all who knew him are
convinced that he has scarce left his equal in this country.
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, John WILLIAMSON, aged 74, was
buried on 26 Feb 1777 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]
Last week, at Cockermouth, Mrs. MAJOR, wife of Mr. James MAJOR.
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Elizabeth MAJOR, wife of James,
was buried on 25 Feb 1777 at Cockermouth.]
Saturday last, at Workington, Mrs. Catharine PARKIN, many years of the
King's Arms Inn, in that town.-The Business will be continued by her son.

1777 at Workington.]
