Last week in London, John DAY, Esq. advocate general to the East India
Company, (and brother to Mr. DAY, surgeon in this town) to Miss RAMUS of St.
James's Place, an accomplished young lady with a large fortune. 
[According to the Parish Register, John DAY of the Middle Temple and
Benedicte RAMUS of this Parish married 15 Feb 1777 at St.
Martin-in-the-Fields, London.] 
 
At Carlisle, Mr. ATKINSON, watch maker, to Miss MATTHEWS of Scotch-street,
in that city. 
[According to FamilySearch, John ATKINSON and Mary MATTHEWS married on 06
Feb 1777 at St. Cuthbert, Carlisle.] 
 
Same place, Mr. John WATSON, to Miss SIMPSON of Newby. 
[According to FamilySearch, John WATSON and Ann SIMPSON married on 08 Feb
1777 at Carlisle.] 
 
At Heighington, in Durham, Mr. HASWELL, master of the grammar school at
Winton in Westmorland, to Miss D. JEPSON, daughter of the late William
JEPSON, Esq. 
[According to the Marriage Bond dated 11 Feb 1777, they were William HASWELL
of Winton in the Parish of Kirby Stephen, Westmorland, Batchelor,
Schoolmaster, and Dorothy JEPSON of Heighington, Spinster, both aged 21 and
above.] 
 
DIED 
 
Friday morning last, at Acre-Walls near this town, Mr. John STEELE, in the
32d year of his age. 
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was buried on 16 Feb 1777 at
Arlecdon.] 
 
In Newcastle, Mrs. WATERS, in the 103d year of her age. 
[According to FamilySearch, Jane WATERS was buried on 11 Feb 1777 at St.
Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne.] 
 
In Rosneath, Scotland, Cath. M'KENZIE, aged 108. 
 
In Durham, Alderman DUNN, of that place, an eminent grocer and tea dealer. 
[According to his headstone at St. Oswald, Durham, Thomas DUNN, late
Alderman of Durham, died 13 Feb 1777 aged 77.]
