MARRIED.
A few days ago at Carlisle, at the Quaker meeting-house, Mr. John IVISON, to
Miss Rachael BLAMIRE.
[According to the Quaker Register, John IVISON of Carlisle, Tallow Chandler,
Son of Henry IVISON of Carlisle and Margaret his Wife, Surviving; and
Rachael BLAMIRE of Carlisle, Grocer and Draper, Daughter of Thomas BLAMIRE
of Carlisle and Deborah his Wife, both deceased; married on 02 Feb 1777 at
Carlisle.]
Last week at Chester le street, Thomas ELLISON, Esq. of Thorne in Yorkshire,
to Miss COOKSON, daughter of John COOKSON, Esq. of Newcastle.
[According to FamilySearch, Richard (not Thomas) ELLISON and Hannah COOKSON
married on 04 Feb 1777 at Chester le Street, County Durham.]
Last week at Wigton, by the Rev. Mr. CLARK, Mr. FARLAM, to Mrs. SHEPERD,
both of that place.
[According to the Parish Register Transcript, John FARLAM, batchelor, and
Sarah SHEPHERD, widow, both of this parish, married on 04 Feb 1777 at
Wigton.]
The 4th instant, Mr. WHARTON, an eminent tradesman in London, to Miss BAILEY
of Wigton.
[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Thomas WHARTON of Kirkby
Stephen parish, Westmorland, and Elizabeth BAILEY of this parish,
singlewoman, married on 04 Feb 1777 at Wigton.]
DIED
Last week at Carlisle, Mrs. Mary ADDERTON, in the 77th year of her age,
sincerely and worthily lamented by all her acquaintance.
[According to FamilySearch, Mrs. Mary ADDERTON, aged 76, was buried on 06
Feb 1777 at Carlisle.]
Last week at his house at Walthwaite in Langdale, Westmorland, John SAWREY,
Esq. a noted conveyancer: he bore a long illness with uncommon fortitude,
and died in his 85th year, possessed of great property, acquired with such a
character as makes his death greatly lamented.
Last week at Wigton, Mrs. Sarah WALKER, widow of Mr. Lancelot WALKER,
formerly a surgeon in that town.
[There is no burial for her in the Wigton Parish Register Transcript.]
A few days ago, at Penrith, Mr. Wm. NELSON, many years master of the Swan
Inn in that place; a gentleman greatly respected by a numerous acquaintance.
[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Mr. William NELSON,
Inn-keeper, aged 70, was buried on 02 Feb 1777 at Penrith.]
