Petra
Interesting. Was this to prove her settlement? But clearly she must have been married or widowed as she had a different surname from her parents. And thus she would have belonged to her husband’s settlement. Or was she a premarital child and went under her mother’s maiden surname? Not very likely if her father later married her mother. Or was this simply to prove her age?
There are a couple of things I do not understand.
“living at 50 in the Parish of Torpenhow” – what is 50 in this context?
I pondered long over this – it is possible that Fifty might be “Fitz” - but i cannot find a place Fitz in Torpenhow parish
“her father and mother with himself originally went from Bewaldeth...” – should that not been “with her” (i.e. Sarah)?
I read this - as the three people – Father, Mother along with John Mounsey all moved from Torpenhow to Skelton ay the same time

Subject: [list-cumbria] Torpenhow to Skelton
The following note is to be found pinned to a page of the Torpenhow Parish register covering the years 1750-51
John Mounsey aged 79 living at 50 in the Parish of Torpenhow appeared personally before me and made oath that he has known
Sarah Wells ever since she was a child. That she was the eldest daughter of John & Ann Fletcher and that she was said to be six years younger
than himself and from his own knowledge her father and mother with himself originally went from Bewaldeth in the Parish of Torpenhow to
Skelton-woodend in the Parish of Skelton where she now resides.
