Hi Lorraine,
How wonderful – I so love it when my transcriptions mention someone’s family member! Yes, he had a particularly nice obituary.
Best wishes,
Petra

Good morning, Petra,
Thank you! 7.30 AM. What a beautiful start to my day with this lovely obituary. Abraham Slater is in my database, with descent connected through two of his sons to my other lines.
He was chr. in Dalton (LPRS Vol 104 Dalton-in-Furness Part II, 1621-1691, p. 69.)
1688 “Abraham s James Slater, Parke 7 Oct.”
With such appreciation, as always,
Lorraine

DIED
A few days ago at Dalton, Mr. Abraham SLATER, a farmer in Low Furness, in his 90th year: a most valuable member of Society. He has left issue, children, grand children, and great grand children, a number equal to his years;—who by copying his example of honesty, sobriety, industry, and care, in the same vocation, are all growing in wealth and in the esteem of their neighbours.
[According to Lancashire OPC, Abraham SLATER of Park was buried on 04 Jan 1777 at St. Mary, Dalton in Furness.]
