I think some of the question marks might have been the following:

We hear with much pleasure, from various parts of the country, the great 
satisfaction our reports of the shipping have afforded to those who live 
at a distance from this town

His vessel is only about 170 tons burthen; is above 60 years old, and 
only employed in the coal trade; the tradesmen's bills upon her during 
that 19 months amounted to £160,
