DIED,

[continued]

Lately, at Low Greaves, in Pennington, near Ulverston, Mr. William SHARPE, aged 46. His death was singularly and awfully sudden;
being in the act of holding a pig by a cord, for the butcher's stroke; which was no sooner inflicted, than he fell down dead,
exactly at the same time with the pig!

At Baltimore, North America, Mr. Robert SANDYS, aged 62, formerly a respectable tradesman in Ulverston.

At Kirkby-Stephen, Mr. John SANDERSON, ironmonger, 27.

At Annan, on Saturday last, Mr. JOHNSTON, surgeon, in consequence of several personal injuries received on the Thursday night
preceding, from some ruffian or ruffians not yet discovered. On Monday the 26th, the Sheriff and Procurator Fiscal arrived at Annan
from Dumfries, and held a precognitionary Court, before which several persons were examined; but as the examinations were private,
the particulars are not accurately known; it appears, however, that no fact was elicited which justified the committal of any of the
persons on whom suspicion has fallen. The body was opened by a surgeon who accompanied the Sheriff from Dumfries, and two medical
gentlemen of Annan, who had no doubt of Mr. JOHNSTON's death being attributable to the injuries which were inflicted on him. The
deceased was eminently skilful in his profession, and generally respected and beloved.

On Tuesday week, at Satterwath, near Shap Wells, in the 39th year of his age, Mr. Launcelot PARKIN, of Bousefield, near Orton,
eldest son of the late Mr. Anthony PARKIN, of the former place. He has left a widow far advanced in pregnancy, and six young
children. Within the short space of six months, seven members of this family have fallen victims to the iron-hand of death, and,
with one exception, all in the prime of life and vigour of manhood.

At Dumfries, on the 16th inst., Mr. John DUNN, weaver, aged 87. Margaret, infant daughter of Mr. M'GHIE, surgeon.

At Clarencefield, on the 18th inst., Mr. John UNDERWOOD, many years an Elder in the parish of Ruthwell.

At Ecclefechan, on the 19th inst., John JOHNSTONE, carrier from thence to Carlisle.

Mr. James COLLOW, Postmaster, Minnihive.

On the 15th inst., awfully sudden, aged 79 years, the Rev. Mr. FISHER, of Lawkland Settle, Yorkshire.

On the 11th inst., at Bridgend, in the parish of Sheen, Staffordshire, the Rev. Henry LOMAS, A. B., aged 76.

At Richmond, on the 20th inst., James, Earl of Cornwallis, Bishop of Lichfield and Coventry, and Dean of Durham, in the 81st year of
his age. He is succeeded in his title and estates by his only son, James MANN, Viscount Brome, now Earl of Cornwallis.

On Saturday, the 17th instant, at his house, in Stanhope-street, London, aged 68, Bamber GASCOYNE, Esq. of Childwall-hall,
Lancashire, and many years representative in Parliament for Liverpool. His daughter, the Marchioness of Salisbury, is his sole
heiress.

of St. Matthew's chapel, aged 1 year and 9 months.

Lately, aged 105 years, Mrs. KITWOOD, mother of Captain KITWOOD, Boston.

In Wellington (U. S.,), widow Mary BRIGGS, aged 102 years. She left nine children of the following ages:-Samuel 73 [sic - presumably
should be 78], Elizabeth 77, Jemima 73, Hannah 72, Abiezer 70, Abner 68, Roby 63, Zebeda 60, Eliakim 57 years; 56 grand children,
and 4 great grand children.

Catharine PARR, great grand-daughter of the famous Old PARR, died in an almshouse, at Cork, in 1792, aged 103.-Croker's Ireland.

The following is a list of the names of five persons, who were interred at Loweswater in 1823, whose joint ages amounted to 406
years:-Mary HUNTER, 85; Ann LONGMIRE, 75; Wm. HOLMES, 83; Wm. TWINAN, 79; Elizabeth GREEN, 84; and, what is more remarkable, they
