HOUSE OF RECOVERY.
AT the Annual General Meeting of the SUBSCRIBERS to the CARLISLE HOUSE of RECOVERY, held at the TOWN-HALL, on MONDAY the 1st
DECEMBER, 1823,
The Very Rev. the DEAN in the Chair,
IT WAS UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED,
1st, That the Report now read be adopted, printed, and circulated, under the direction of the Committee.
2nd, That the following Gentlemen, viz. Mr. John DIXON, Mr. Joseph FERGUSON, of Fisher-street, Mr. John FORSTER, jun., Capt. HALTON,
Mr. Wm. HALTON, Mr. HEAD, Mr. John HODGSON, of Castle-street, Mr. HOLLINGSWORTH, Major MOUNSEY, Mr. NANSON, Mr. Thomas STORDY, and
Mr. SLATER, be appointed a Committee for the ensuing Year.
3rd, That the thanks of this Meeting be given to the late Committee for their services in promoting the welfare of the Institution.
4th, That the most cordial Thanks of this Meeting be given to the Medical Officers of the Institution, and particularly to Dr.
BARNES, for the zealous and skilful discharge of his duty to the Patients in the House of Recovery.
5th, That the Thanks of this Meeting be given to the Treasurer for his services.
6th, That Mr. John FORSTER, sen., Mr. HEAD, and Mr. HALTON, be deputed by this Meeting to wait upon the Duke of Devonshire's Steward
to solicit his co-operation with the Corporation of Carlisle in filling up the Pond on the West of Eden Bridge, and making a Drain
to remove the Water therefrom.
7th, That Mr. John FORSTER, sen., Mr. HALTON, and Capt. HALTON, be deputed by this Meeting to confer with the Lamp Commissioners on
the Measures to be taken for Repairing the Road leading to the House of Recovery.
8th, That the Thanks of this Meeting be given to Mr. SEWELL, the Apothecary to the Institution, for his services.
9th, That the Thanks of the Meeting be given to the Secretary.

The Dean having quitted the Chair, and the Mayor having taken it,
RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY,That the Thanks of this Meeting be given to the Chairman for his conduct in the Chair, and his readiness at
all times to support whatever tends to the improvement and welfare of the City.
