[list-cumbria] March 1824 was a very busy month

When I started in January 2023 posting transcriptions from the Carlisle Patriot, beginning with October 1822, I thought that it
would not be long until I would be posting newspaper transcriptions exactly 200 years after they were originally published. After
all, the newspapers were published weekly, and I am posting daily (except when I am away from home, or simply forget).

How wrong I was! Here we are almost at the end of June 2024, and I have just finished posting the articles from February 1824. So I
am still three months behind, just as I was at the beginning.

The major culprits are the reports on the Assizes and the County Sessions, as they are reported in much detail, generating numerous
postings. And the reports from the Spring Assizes of March 1824 filled several newspaper pages, in very small print and six columns
per page. I think I have never before transcribed so much reporting from one set of assizes. The total postings generated from the
transcriptions of the Cumberland Spring Assizes is 40 (!), with an additional 12 from the Westmorland Assizes.

The total of the transcriptions from the four March 1824 editions of the Carlisle Patriot amounted to 109 pages in a Word document,
resulting in 59 postings (yes, there were local news and BMD as well as the assizes).

So, you can look forward to a long hot summer of crime and legal arguments!

Petra
