At Penrith, on the 14th instant, or Valentine's day, after a courtship of nearly 30 years, Mr. Thomas HARBOTTLE, to Miss Jane
GRISENTHWAITE. It may be considered singular, that just as the happy pair were leaving the church after the ceremony, the bell
announced the death of Mr. John LAWSON, who had for many years acted as a sub-director of the Highways for Mr. HARBOTTLE, when he
held the situation of surveyor.-Same place, on the 17th, Mr. Thomas HUDDERT, to Miss Mary HARRISON.-On Thursday last, Mr. Wm.
SHORTWELL, of 22nd regt. foot, to Miss Mary SMITH.
At Keswick, on Monday last, Mr. John PRATT, veterinary surgeon, of Cockermouth, to Miss Jane EDMONDSON, of Keswick. Same place, on
Thursday last, Mr. John SIMPSON, to Miss GRAVE, daughter of Mr. John GRAVE, bread-baker, of Keswick. [Both these couples were
married at Crosthwaite Church, near Keswick.]

At Cockermouth, in her 47th year, Jane, daughter of Mr. Henry BIRKETT. Same place, Mary, wife of Mr. Joseph STRICKLAND, 28; Mr.
Miles GARNET, tailor.
At Workington, last Sunday, John STAGG, well-known throughout Cumberland as an itinerant musician of some ability. ANDERSON has
introduced him into one of his inimitable ballads.
At Newlands, near Keswick, Mrs. Eleanor HODGSON, formerly an innkeeper in Cockermouth.
At Portinscale, near Keswick, of a decline, Miss Sarah RODGERS, in her 20th year.
At Seaton, near Workington, Mrs. M. HODGSON, 36. At Workington, Mr. J. BROWN, grocer, in his 63d. year.
At Kendal, last week, Mrs. WAKEFIELD, wife of John WAKEFIELD, Esq. banker. She died at Sedgewick House, in the 60th year of her age.
In her the poor have lost one of their best friends, and society one of its brightest ornaments. For energy of character, and truly
Christian feeling, Mrs. WAKEFIELD has left only few equals.
Aged 76, Mr. George BIRKET, gardener, of Kendal. Same place, aged 36, Mr. Alexander DARWEN, tailor.
Aged 77, Mr. George BENSON, of Leck, near Kirkby-Lonsdale. Mr. BENSON had an appointment at Kirkby-Lonsdale, and was proceeding
thither in apparent good health, when death assailed him. The vital spark was completely extinguished, when he was discovered.
At Kirkby Stephen, Jane IVESON, 95. At Oak Bank, near Kirkby Stephen, Ingraham CLEASBY.
At Birmingham, aged 29, Mr. G. MILLS, medallist; pronounced by the late Mr. President WEST, the first in England.
In London, after fourteen days severe suffering of typhus fever, in the 18th year of his age, Isaac, son of Mr. John FISHER, of
Seatoller, in Borrowdale.
