DIED,
At Castle Howard, Yorkshire, the seat of her Noble Husband, in the 71st year of her age, to the great affliction of her numerous family, and the irreparable loss of her dependents and the neighbouring poor, the Right Hon. Margaret Caroline, Countess of Carlisle. Her Ladyship was the second daughter of Granville Leveson GOWER, first Marquis of Stafford (by Louisa, daughter of Scroop Duke of Bridgewater), and sister of the present Marquis, and of Lady Ann VERNON (lady of the Archbishop of York). Her Ladyship was married to Frederick Earl of Carlisle, on the 22d March, 1770, by whom she had issue eight children.
Yesterday morning, in Caldewgate, after a few days illness, aged 41, endeared to a large circle of friends by his sobriety and integrity in all his dealings, Mr. Thos. GUY, shopkeeper, leaving a disconsolate widow and seven helpless children to bewail their irreparable loss.
In this city, on Tuesday last, Mr. Robert BELL, aged 64, many years brewer to Messrs. PATTINSON & Co.
Suddenly, at Parton, near Wigton, Mr. ISMAY, aged 76; much regretted by all who knew him.
On the 2nd inst. at Rigg Cottage, near Gretna, Mr. W. CARRUTHERS, formerly a solicitor in Carlisle.
Last week, at Whitehaven, Mr. G. BRAITHWAITE, brother of Mr. B. assistant-overseer, aged 64.—
31.01.1824 George BRAYTHWAITE of King St aged 64; buried at St.Nicholas - Whitehaven
Mr. Thomas GIBSON, butcher, aged 38. His coffin was iron bound, to protect his remains from the depredations of the body-snatchers.
Lately, near Waterford, Joseph, the son of Mr. H. NICHOLSON, cabinet-maker, Whitehaven, aged 17 years. In mooring a boat belonging to the Hope, of Workington, in which he had come from shore, he fell from the side of the ship and was drowned.
Lately, at Dean, in his 74th year Mr. Jos. WALKER, one of the Society of Friends.
At Kendal, John, 4th son of Wm. Dillworth CREWDSON, Esq. banker, aged 10 years.
