Yes, people paid for these. It allowed them to hunt game.

 

The only people who did not have to pay for it themselves were the gamekeepers – their employers paid for it.

 

I don't think a labourer would have been able to afford this. A farmer may have done so he could shoot game on his own land.

Happy New Year everyone.

 

May I ask about these certificates please.  Below may be a relative of mine.  Do you think he has paid for this perhaps in regard to his private employment/enjoyment.  It is a lot of money for general farmers/labourers and as my rellies weren’t exactly flush with money, it makes me wonder if he is not mine.
