Hi Petra,

I haven't researched the GRAHAMs, but the Carlisle Archive item under
DKEN/1 states that they were from Kirklinton.
Drilling down on CASCAT, there is this additional context:

Administrative History

Mrs Kennedy's great-grandfather
was Joseph Graham of Kirklinton; her grandfather James Graham was an
alderman of the city of Carlisle and served as mayor 1746-1747.

I think one would need to visit the Archive Centre or otherwise view the
file to find out if this relates to Fergus James GRAHAM, or just GRAHAM
ancestors of Mrs Elizabeth KENNEDY (nee DALTON), or both - Fergus James
GRAHAM being related to her.

I know a fair amount about the KENNEDYs of Craig, but not the DALTONS or
the GRAHAMs. My initial interest was the correspondence between Col Andrew
McDOUALL and David KENNEDY, but I was to find this KENNEDY family of great
interest. It involves some rather sad outcomes, but one daughter,
Georgiana, married Captain John MALLOY, and became a noted botanist in
Western Australia. Author, Bernice Barry, has written a book about her, and
also has a blog with lots of information about this KENNEDY family. She
drew on the Carlisle Archives for much of her research.
