Thank you, Bruce, very interesting.
I had assumed that Fergus GRAHAM belonged to the GRAHAMs of Netherby – they had a few Ferguses in the family. Do you know whether this Fergus belonged to the Netherby clan?

Crosby Lodge was built by David KENNEDY, heir to the Craig estate in Ayrshire. He died in 1819, following a fall from his horse, so he didn't get to inherit Craig. His widow was left with large debts and needed to sell Crosby Lodge. It seems that Fergus James GRAHAM was the buyer.
GRAHAM researchers may know more about this.
If anyone is interested enough in this, there is a document in the Carlisle Archives which is likely to have further detail of this GRAHAM family:
D KEN/1. Graham family of Kirklinton
This is one of a large set of documents from David KENNEDY's business and personal correspondence. A few years ago, I was able to use the Archive Centre services to have images of a few of them emailed to me in Australia. The modest fee proved well worth it. My interest at the time was David KENNEDY's close friend, Col Andrew McDOUALL.
