Happy New Year everyone,

Hi Roz,

I too have a brick wall re Mary Little.  Her parents Thomas and Elizabeth BOWMAN.

Mary 1791-1879 M Joseph RICHARDSON, 1791-1864, Newtown, Carlisle, details from death certificates which as we know are often wrong. Joseph’s parent - Thomas Richardson & Mary IRWIN.

They may have had 9 children in Liverpool. If so only 2 made it to adulthood.  They and Margaret Ann & Sarah arrived Adelaide, Sth Australia on the “Lord Ashburton” 1850.  Margaret M George Cole there 18 August 1852 and Joseph asked for the notice to be copied in the Liverpool Mercury and states he is late of this town.  Don’t know what happened to Sarah after her arrival.

Prior to her marriage Margaret had met Joshua BIRD, Cumberland who arrived on the “Sultana” Adelaide 1850 and and visited Victorian goldfields twice.  He wrote her a letter which I have saying ‘he hoped to be number 1 when he gets back'.  Perhaps the mail was slow as when he got back, he found her married to George.  They hightailed it to Nelson, NZ where he brought a farm for £250 sterling so a nice find of gold.  I have never found Joshua/Margaret married, they had 12 children, one being my grandfather.  Margaret’s parents also arrived Nelson, NZ late 1853 and all died there.

I would love to have a firm lead/ideas on Mary & Joseph please.
