At Croscannonby, on the 8th inst. by the Rev. Mr. DONALD, Joseph BROOKS, of the ship Eliza Ann, of Maryport, to Miss Betsey ASHLEY,
of the same place.
At Whitehaven, on Saturday last, Mr. William Hoey GATLIFF, of Kirkstall, near Leeds, Lieutenant in his Majesty's own regiment, to
Christian, daughter of Mrs. HAMILTON, of that town; and at the same time and place, Mr. James GATLIFF, (brother to the above) late
midshipman in his Majesty's service, to Jane, also daughter of the said Mrs. HAMILTON.-Same place, on Monday, Mr. Charles KEY, to
Miss Margaret SELBY. Mr. William POSTLETHWAITE, to Miss Christian TOPPING.
At Brigham, William DICKINSON, Esq. of Workington, to Mrs. THOMPSON, of Greysouthen.
At Annan, on Saturday last, Mr. John TINKLER, of Haltcliff, to Mrs. JOHNSTON, of Haltcliff Hall, in this county.
At Asby, a few days ago, Mr. Robert NICHOLSON, of Donna Close, to Miss HOWE, daughter of Mr. Robert HOWE, of Low Field, near
Appleby.
DIED.
On Monday the 10th inst., Richard George, infant son of Mr. Joseph FERGUSON, Fisher-street.
On Sunday last, at his daughter's house, in Castle-street, Mr. Joseph RANDLESON, aged 79 years; formerly of Warwick-bridge, where he
resided many years as an auctioneer. His remains were interred at Warwick.
On the 1st inst., in Rickergate, Mrs. BLAYLOCK, wife of Mr. BLAYLOCK, watch maker. The patience and fortitude with which she had
long borne a severe affliction, evinced a strong hope of salvation in the merits of a Redeemer.
Since our last, Mrs. Mary EDGAR, Scotch-street, aged 35 years.
Yesterday, Joseph, second son of Mr. HOBSON, aged 14 months.
On the evening of Saturday last, universally respected and regretted, Edward TODD, of Lark Hall, near Penrith, Esq., advanced in
years. His death was awfully sudden, and ought to be a warning to all "to be always ready, for in such an hour as we know not, the
Son of Man cometh." He went down street upon a little business, in perfect health; and on his return home, sat down, complained of
being sick, and in about twenty minutes expired in the arms of his disconsolate widow. Surely this circumstance ought to remind us
all of our mortality.
At Whitehaven, Mrs. Fanny BARLOW, widow, aged 71.
At Goose Green, parish of Moresby, Mr. Christopher WILSON, in the 24th year of his age.
At Maryport, on the 11th inst. Mrs. CARRICK, aged 75.
At Ousby, aged 72, Mrs. Elizabeth VARTY.
Monday the 3d. inst. at Harrington, Mrs. Mary PEARSON, widow, aged 85.-Same day, of the small pox, Margaret, the daughter of William
STEPHENSON, aged 14 years.-On Tuesday, at the same place, Catharine, the daughter of John HAYSON, of the small pox, aged 4 years;
and the following day, Martha his youngest daughter, aged 2 years, also of the same disease.
At Moor End, in Ennerdale, Mr. SIMPSON, aged 35.
At Haile, Mrs. THOMPSON, aged 48 years.
At Bongate, on the 5th inst., much respected, the Rev. H. SHAW, LL. B., perpetual curate of St. Michael's, Bongate, and vicar of
Bowness, Cumberland.
Friday, at Kendal, Mr. Christopher AIREY, auctioneer, aged 28, son of the Rev. Mr. AIREY, of Selside and formerly of the firm of
AIRY [sic] and BELLINGHAM, printers.
Aged 18, the eldest daughter of C. BURROW, Esq. of Buxton House, near Burton-in-Kendal.
Mr. Peter KELLET, of Penny-bridge, aged 76, formerly tanner at Beckside, Cartmel.
A few days ago, Mr. TWEEDY, solicitor, late of Appleby, in the prime of life.
At Lauanne [sic - should be Lausanne], of an apoplectic fit, on the 24th Feb. [he actually died on the 26th], John Philip KEMBLE,
Esq., the celebrated tragedian, aged 66.
Mr. John CLARKE, of Urswick, near Ulverstone.
