DIED.
On Saturday last, in this City, after a lingering illness, John, only son of Mr. OWEN, hat-manufacturer, aged 15 years.
In this City, since our last, Mr. Richard SIMPSON, of Finkle-street, aged 59. Mr. Edmund JAMES, chairmaker, Rickergate, aged 73.
Mrs. Margaret TWEDDLE, Caldewgate, aged 92. Mr. John WARD, aged 33; Mrs. Mary BOUSTEAD, aged 82; Mr. Joseph VARTY, aged 23, all of
Botchergate. Mrs. Mary FINDLAY, aged 73, and Mr. William ARMSTRONG, tailor, advanced in years, both of Caldewgate. Mr. Robert
ANDERSON, of Caldewgate, late a musician in the Artillery band, aged 38. In the House of Recovery, of typhus fever, Mr. Adam BROWN,
turnkey of the gaol, aged 46.
At Longwathby, on Tuesday last, very suddenly Mr. John WATSON, yeoman, aged 70.
On the 1st inst., in the 38th year of her age, at his house in Warwick, Ann, wife of Charles WAKE, M. D.
On the 4th inst., at Moor Houses, near Penrith, Richard JAMESON, Esq., Treasurer for this County; an office which he has filled for
upwards of 20 years, with much credit to himself, and to the satisfaction of the Magistrates.
On the 2nd inst., suddenly, at Rugeley, in Staffordshire, Miss FLETCHER, only sister of the Rev. Walter FLETCHER, of Dalston, near
this city.
Monday last, in George-street, Whitehaven, Margaret, wife of Mr. Wm. LEECH, musician, aged 41.
At Hensingham, Mrs. Mary COBRAN, widow, aged 79 years.
At Sunderland, near Cockermouth, Joseph WILLIAMSON, Esq. of Parton, aged 75. Mr. WILLIAMSON has conferred a lasting obligation on
the village of Parton, by the endowment of a school on a very liberal plan, in which 40 scholars receive instruction, gratis.
In Egrement [sic], Dorothy, wife of Mr. John DEAN, borough-serjeant, aged 51.
On Saturday last, at Workington, Mr. Thomas DIXON, aged 24.
At Cockermouth, Mr. Wm. PROCTOR, aged 65 years.
Last week, at Allonby, Mr. Jacob COULTHARD, many years landlord of the Ship Inn there, aged 52 years.
At Millthorp, Mr. Anthony HUDDLESTON, maltster.
At Ravenstonedale, Mr. James HUNTER, aged 39.
At Keswick, aged 60 years, Mr. Jonathan FAWCETT. His death was awfully sudden; having gone into an alehouse with some farmers, and
whilst in conversation with them, he fell from his chair and instantly expired. The deceased was 26 stone weight.
At Appleby, on Saturday last, Mrs. TEASDALE, one of the widows of St. Ann's Hospital, of that place.-Same place, on Wednesday last,
the infant child of Mr. Robert GRAHAM, of Scattergate.
Mrs. Agnes THOMPSON, late of the Bird-in-Hand, Kirkland, Kendal, aged 67.
Lately, while at school, near London, of an epidemic fever, Mr. J. A. DAWSON, aged 18, son of Mr. DAWSON, linen-draper, Kendal.
At Murraythwaite, Wednesday morning, at the very advanced age of 96, John MURRAY, Esq., of Murraythwaite, late Vice-Lieutenant of
the county of Dumfries; a gentleman of great talent and respectability, who, in his youth, filled high offices of trust and
responsibility under government, both at home and abroad. The bent of his mind, and the peculiar feature of the times, induced him
to retire early in life (60 years ago) from the stage of politics and public adventure, to his paternal estate in Dumfries-shire,
where he proved himself a zealous patriot, and a judicious magistrate.
At Dumfries, on Saturday last, Grace, wife of Mr. Joseph SWAN, printer, Dumfries.-Same place, in her 80th year, Margaret, widow of
the late John OUGHTERSON, Esq., of Milnthird.-Same place, on Sunday last. Mr. William WAUGH, china-merchant.
At Richmond, Virginia, on 25th December last, John BROWN, Esq., of Netherwood, Dumfries-shire.
At Maxwelltown, on Saturday last, Mary, relict of the late Mr. William GRAINGER, merchant, aged 94.
At Stoney-bank, near Edinburgh, on the 20th ult., Frances, wife of Major J. S. SINCLAIR, Royal Artillery.
On the 28th of January, at Corsham, near Bath, the wife of Thomas COLLETT, Esq.
Saturday week, in London, Mr. Peter BAILEY, Editor of the Museum, a London weekly publication. He was proceeding with his wife to
the Opera in a hackney coach, and had sung an Italian air, when he ejaculated "Oh! Mary!" and fell dead into her arms.
