At Tenterden, Kent, Mr. John ADAMS, land-surveyor, to Mrs. Elizabeth BROWNE, both of Tenterden. Instead of a merry peal on the
church bells, common on such occasions, the bridegroom, as soon as the ceremony was over, ordered the sexton-to toll the great bell
for the space of an hour, which was accordingly done, and it made that serious impression on many of the inhabitants, which, in the
opinion of some, a wedding day demands.
