POLICE ESTABLISHMENT. 

 

AT a Meeting of SUBSCRIBERS to the POLICE-OFFICE, held at the Office, on FRIDAY the 7th Day of FEBRUARY, 1823, 

 

ROBERT HARRINGTON, Esq., M. D., in the Chair. 

 

The Draft of a Bill for the Establishment of a Police for the City and Suburbs having been read, 

 

RESOLVED,—That the same be approved of and adopted. 

 

RESOLVED,—That a Petition to Parliament for leave to bring in the Bill be now signed. 

 

RESOLVED,—That the Draft of the Bill be published. 

 

RESOLVED,—That Dr. HARRINGTON, Mr. Joseph FERGUSON, Mr. HALTON, Mr. HEAD, Mr. LANGCAKE, Mr. ATKINSON, Mr. John DIXON, Major WILDE,
Rev. Mr. FAWCETT, Mr. SAUNDERS, Mr. William GRAHAM, and Mr. RAILTON, be appointed a Committee to obtain Signatures to the Petition,
and otherwise to promote the objects of this Meeting, with power to add to their number. 

 

RESOLVED,—That the Petition lie at the Town Clerk's Office for Signature, until Monday morning next, and that the Committee attend
with it on that Day, at the Town-Hall, from 10 o'clock in the Morning until Three in the Afternoon. 

 

RESOLVED,—That these Resolutions be inserted in the Carlisle Newspapers. 

 

The Chairman having left the Chair, 

 

RESOLVED,—That the Thanks of this Meeting be given to Dr. HARRINGTON for his able and impartial conduct in the Chair.
