Escape from Gaol. 

 

WHEREAS, on THURSDAY morning, the 6th Instant, between the hours of Seven and Eight o'Clock, the following PRISONERS Escaped from
the Gaol, in the City of CARLISLE, after having knocked down the Turnkey, so as to disable him until they had effected their
purpose:— 

 

WILLIAM GREEN, an Irishman, by Trade a Watchmaker, under sentence of Transportation for Life; aged 23 Years, rather slender made,
about 5ft. 8in. high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, pitted with the small pox; had on a long Blue Coat, Yellow
Waistcoat, and light-coloured Cassimere Breeches. 

 

JOHN HAMILTON, a Scotchman, under sentence of Transportation for 14 Years; aged 42, stout made, about 5 ft. 8½ in high, swarthy
complexion, black hair; had on a Blue Coat, striped Waistcoat, and Fustian Trowsers. 

 

BENJAMIN LITTLE, under sentence of Transportation for 7 Years; about 28 Years of age, slender made, swarthy complexion, sandy hair
and whiskers; had on a long dark grey frock Coat; a native of Cumberland, but has a little of the Irish accent. 

 

FRANCIS M'HANNAH, an Irishman, under sentence of Transportation for 7 Years; near 27 Years of age, about 5 ft. 9 in. high, rather
slender made, a little swarthy in complexion, sandy hair and red whiskers, a little pitted with the small pox; had on a round-about
dark Jacket and Fustian Trowsers. 

 

JOHN O'NEILL, an Irishman, under sentence of Transportation for 7 Years; stout made, 5 ft. 6½ in. high, fair complexion, rather
light hair, his fore-finger of the right hand is cut off at the middle joint; had on a short snuff-coloured Coat and dark Breeches. 

 

Whoever will apprehend any of the above Prisoners, shall be Satisfactorily Rewarded, and all their Expenses paid, on application to
