At Crosscannonby, Mr. William ADLEY, to Miss Elizabeth WATKINSON, both of Maryport.
DIED.
On Saturday last, in Annetwell Street, after a lingering illness, Mr. William THOMPSON, formerly printer and bookseller, in this
City, aged 53. His professional talents recommended him to the notice of many, and his knowledge of literature made him a valuable
acquisition in an editorial capacity, while his open and candid disposition caused him to be generally respected among his
acquaintances: he died much regretted by all his relatives and friends, and has left a numerous family to lament his loss. His
remains were interred in Stanwix church-yard, on Tuesday morning last, attended by a number of respectable friends, who thus paid
the last tribute of respect to the memory of a man of genius and of worth.
On the 30th ult. at her father's house, most sincerely regretted, Jane Keble, youngest daughter of Major-General CLARKE, Upper
Charlotte-street, Fitzroy-square, London, in the nineteenth year of her age.
Since our last-Mr. Charles BENNETT, of Ritson's Lane, aged 35 years. Mrs. Mary BATY, of Upperby, aged 68 years.
At Wigton, on the 28th ult. Mr. Thomas ROBINSON, aged 81. Same place, Miss KNUBLEY, aged 66. Same place, Peter FORSTER, advanced in
years.
At Penrith, on Sunday last, Mr. Joseph TODD, glover, aged 71.
At Cockermouth, Hannah, wife of Mr. MATTHEWS, draper, aged 66.-Same place, Mrs. Margaret JEFFERSON.
At Thirsk, on the 26th ult. Mr. George RUTHERFORD, formerly gardener to Mr. HOWARD, of Corby Castle, Cumberland.
At Maryport, Mr. William MITCHINSON, aged 76. Same place, Miss Ann MONKHOUSE, aged 25.
Sunday last, at Whitehaven, Mr. Robert STITT, master of the sloop Betsey, of Gatehouse.-Same place, William, son of Mr. Joseph
RUSSELL, grocer, Market-place, aged 10 years.
On Monday week, Mr. Thomas BUSHER, aged 66, of Kirkland, Kendal, after a long and severe affliction, occasioned by the apparently
trifling circumstance of removing a wart from the back of his hand by caustic.
Mrs. BRAITHWAITE, wife of Mr. George BRAITHWAITE, of Highgate, Kendal, aged 38, one of the Society of Friends.
At Ambleside, after a short illness, Samuel ARROWSMITH, Esq. aged 45, formerly of the First Royal Regiment of Lancashire Militia.
At Speddoch Mill, Holywood, on the 22d ult. at a very advanced age, Mrs. John CALLENDAR, daughter of the late Dr. James CALLENDAR.
At Northallerton, the Rev. James WILKINSON, vicar of Hutton Bonville, and for near half a century curate of Northallerton, and
headmaster of the Grammar School at that place, greatly respected.
At Edrom Manse, Berwickshire, the Rev. John HASTIE, minister of that parish, in his 60th year.
At Scarbro', after a long and painful illness, aged 66, the Rev. Godfrey WOOLLEY, vicar of Hutton Bushel, and one of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the North Riding of York.
At York, lately, aged 63, Mrs. HARRISON. Her death was caused by a pin running into her thumb, whilst washing, which brought on a
mortification.
At Tonderghie, on the 27th ult. J. D. STEWART, Esq.
At Calcutta, July 8th, the Rt. Rev. Thomas Fanshawe MIDDLETON, D. D. Lord Bishop of Calcutta, after a short illness, from fever,
which baffled medical skill: he was in full health the Tuesday preceding, when he visited the College. His Lordship's death will be
much regretted, as he was an active patron of every rational scheme for spreading Christianity throughout the Eastern world.
In Richmond Place, Edinburgh, at the great age of 105 years, Agnes, relict of Mr. George MACKENZIE, of Stockbridge. She retained her
mental faculties almost to the very last. In 1745, after witnessing the reception of the Pretender at Holyrood House, she was struck
with a musket ball fired from the Castle, while carrying her eldest son, now one of the oldest citizens of Edinburgh.
Don Francisco Antonio ZEA, minister of the Columbian Republic, died at Bath on Thursday.
