WRECK OF THE BRIG GEORGE.

[continued]

We have another narrative, also by Mr. M'ALPIN, the same in substance, but rather clearer in one part. The captain says-"We scudded
as long as the vessel would obey her helm, when she broached to on the evening of the 6th of Oct. I went down to change myself. When
pulling on my drawers, a most tremendous sea struck the vessel, and carried overboard the two mates and my brother, in the act of
fixing a tarpaulin on the main-rigging, to keep her steady. I sprung on deck; her lee gunwhale was down to the water; the two men at
the pump were still clinging to their hold, but the sea ran so terrifically high, it was in vain to persevere any longer. Booms,
boats, every thing was gone but the deck timber and the bare stanchions; the sea ranged over her in solid water, and filled her till
the water extinguished the light in the cabin, where a passenger, his wife, and child were in bed. We struggled hard with the woman
and child to gain the main-top; and in going aft myself, I distinctly heard the groans of my companions on our lee quarter. We got
up with a bag of bread, and a basket of wine. The passenger took the child from the mother, but the ship rolled so heavily, that to
save himself he let go his child and basket; we were then left with the bread alone. The woman died in her husband's arms on the
fifth day after our misfortune; and, awful to relate, we drank her blood greedily, and the poor husband sucked her cold heart!! We
saved her fleshy parts for food: and in a few days, the husband himself breathed his last. In this dreadful condition, shocking to
the feelings of humanity, we continued for 38 days; at the end of which, nine of our crew, with the passenger, his wife, and child,
were gone, and the survivors living on the bodies of their dead companions. On the 38th day, the Saltom, John HUDSON, master, took
us two, all that were left, from the main-top of the wreck. On the next day we saw the Irish land; and now (Thursday last), we bear
the melancholy tidings to our native place, Greenock, where again and again we must pain our bosoms by relating the sufferings of
our companions whom we have left in the western ocean."

The Saltom, of Carlisle, from Miramichi, came to below Beckfoot, near Allonby, on Tuesday. The wind blowing fresh, on the flow of
the tide, she parted from her anchor, and was driven ashore; she was afterwards got off, and again put aground at Beck-foot, where
she now lies a little damaged; "but," says a letter from the coast, "if the weather continues moderate, all may yet be well." We are
sorry to add, however, from a late account, that she will be a complete wreck-cargo saved.

The Lascelles, SENHOUSE, from Maranham, with cotton, was lost at Southport on Friday night, (not being able to enter Liverpool on
account of the tide), and every soul on board perished. On the following morning, the Brunswick, from Smyrna, was lost on Barret's
wharf, south side of the river Lune, and all hands also perished.

The Fame, REVELY, from Liverpool to Newcastle, is totally lost near Ulverston; crew saved. The Ceres, EVANS, from Waterford for
Liverpool, lost on West Hoyle; crew safe. The Resolution, TWEDDLE, from Liverpool to Waterford, is at Holyhead, having been deserted
by the crew, and gone ashore; crew saved.

The brig Mary, FARREN, of Dublin, with coals and potatoes from Whitehaven, was stranded at the Rhue point, near Ramsey, Isle of Man,
on the 12th instant.

The Britannia, HOLLIDAY, from Miramichi, arrived at Bowness on Sunday, after a passage of twenty-three days-very severe weather.

The Anglim, GLAISTER, from Miramichi, is arrived at Liverpool; sailed the 25th ult. in company with the Aid, of Maryport, for
Carnarvon; Sally, of Harrington, for Dublin; Dykes, of Maryport, for Flint.
