On Wednesday, at his father's house, in Castle-street, of a consumption, in the 19th year of his age, James, son of Mr. John
MATTHEWS, grocer,-a young man of an amiable, kind, and benevolent disposition. 

 

Last week, Jane ATKINSON, aged 33 years. 

 

This week, Margaret MURRAY, aged 12, and Sarah M'CLASKIN, aged 8 years. 

 

At Rockliff Cross, on Tuesday last, Thomas CARTNER, school-master of that place, aged 36. He has left a wife and four children to
lament his loss. 

 

On Monday last, Ann, the wife of John DAVIDSON, Newtown, Rockcliff, aged 51 years. 

 

At Penrith, on Wednesday last, Christopher, the only son of Mr. Edward MOUNSEY, Clerk of the Race Course, aged 4 years. 

 

At the How, near Keswick, Mr. R. FOLDER, much respected. 

 

On the 24th ult. at Carlton, near Thirsk, Yorkshire, regretted by all his neighbours, Mr. GAINS, aged 58. 

 

Last week, in Church-street, Whitehaven, Mrs. CUTHBERTSON, wife of Mr. CUTHBERTSON, butcher, aged 24. 

 

At Ginns, Ann, the wife of Mr. Robert LEECH, officer in the Customs, aged 36.-At the same place, Sarah, the wife of Mr. William
THOMPSON, shoemaker, aged 58.-At Corkickle, Mrs. Deborah WILSON, widow, aged 82.-At Middleton Place, in Corney, Mr. Thomas SMITH, in
the 79th year of his age. 

 

At Workington, Mrs. Mary KEY, widow, aged 33.-At the same place, Susan Ann, the wife of Mr. GRAYSON, joiner, aged 44. 

 

At Garliestown, Scotland, much respected, Elizabeth, the wife of Mr. Alexander MACKIE, in the 66th year of her age. 

 

At Annan, at the advanced age of 88, Mrs. Janet HUNTER, relict of the deceased George CLEMINSON. 

 

At Edinburgh, on the 1st inst. Mrs. CORRIE, relict of the late Hugh CORRIE, Esq. writer to the signet, aged 69,-a lady of the most
unexampled charity and benevolence of heart. 

 

Death Abroad.-William Dutton COLT, Esq. a Captain in the Honourable East India Company's service, while in command of a Bengal
native volunteer corps on the Island of Java. He served under General Lord LAKE during the last war in the west of India, with much
credit to himself; and headed his native company at the storming of Gualior, a strong fort on a high rock, once thought by the
people of that country to be impregnable. Esteemed as an officer, and beloved as a man, he is now cut off in the flower of life,
lamented by all his associates, friends, and acquaintances, and has left an affectionate widow inconsolable for her irretrievable
loss.-Wm. D. COLT was the next brother to Sir John Dutton COLT, of Leominster, Herefordshire, who holds the oldest Baronetcy but one
in England.-The ancestors of this family originally went from Carlisle, and are on record in this City.
