The match between the Dunearn Ox, and the English short-horned Ox, still remains undecided; the umpires having been equally divided
on the merits of the respective animals, which were of a very superior nature. This gave rise to much discussion, and produced a
difference of sentiment greatly to be regretted, as it destroys that unanimity so necessary to the beneficial progress of a society.
The English Ox is two years younger than the Dunearn Ox. We are informed that Mr. STEWART, the proprietor of the latter, offered to
decide the bet by lot, ballot, or in any other impartial manner, but this, by the majority, was thought unsatisfactory; which on
cool reflection every one must acknowledge to be the case.
The STEWARDS for next year, are, Sir WATKIN WILLIAM WYNNE; Major YEATES; and Mr. MONTEITH, of Closeburn, Scotland.
