BIRTH. 

 

This week, at Botcherby, Mrs. HOLMES, the wife of Mr. John HOLMES, of the New Bank, of a son. 

 

MARRIED. 

 

On the 4th inst. at Abbey, by the Rev. Mr. JACKSON, Mr. John OSBORN, of Allonby, to Ann, eldest daughter of Richard BARWISE, Esq. of
Edderside, Abbey Holm. 

 

On Monday last, at Gretna Green, Christopher Weyersdale TOWNLY, hatter, to Eleanor RICHARDSON, being the fourth wife within two
years and three months. 

 

On Saturday the 23d ult., at Bowness, by the Rev. Henry PARKER, John Sherbrooke GELL, Esq. of Gate-house, Derbyshire, to Miss
Isabella PARKER, of the Wood, Winaddermere, third daughter of the late Timothy PARKER, Esq., of Hornby-hall, Lancashire. 

 

Mr. G. STEPHENSON, of Appleby, to Miss Mary PEACOCK, of Battleborough.-Mr. John PEARSON, of Bongate, to Miss Mary LAKELAND, of
Burrels. 

 

DIED. 

 

On Sunday evening last, Mr. John HAUGH, aged 61, late brewer in this city.-His death was sudden, for though he had been unwell
sometime past, he was walking about the town as late as Saturday last, without any indication of so near a dissolution. 

 

Last week, Mary M'CLUSKY, aged 30, and Rachael M'KENNELL, aged 81, both of Caldewgate. 

 

On Saturday last, Mr. Robert NIXON, of Fauld, near Rockliff, at an advanced age. 

 

At Penrith, on Saturday last, Margaret SEWELL, aged 63 years.-Same place, on Sunday last, John WILSON, aged 84. 

 

On the 28th ult. at Barnard Castle, universally lamented, Mrs. LAWSON, wife of John Sharpless LAWSON, Esq. M.D. A lady distinguished
by all those virtues which adorn and render human nature estimable; generous and charitable in her disposition; amiable,
interesting, and accomplished in her manners; a steady friend, and an affectionate wife; she was at once an ornament and a pattern
to her sex. Her loss is mourned with the most poignant sorrow by her relatives and friends, and with sincere regret by all who were
acquainted with her worth. 

 

At Whitehaven:-In Roper-street, Mrs. ROBINSON, aged 38, wife of Mr. ROBINSON, surgeon.-In West Strand, Mrs. Isabella STEELE,
innkeeper, aged 62.-In Chapel-street, Mr. William SAWYER, shoemaker, late of Dalston, aged 75.-In Plumbland-lane, Mrs. LEECE
widow.-In Peter-street, Ann, the wife of Mr. Wm. BROWN, at an advanced age. 

 

At Bell-House, in the 78th year of his age, Mr. J. SMITH, formerly of Desmesnes, near Whitehaven. 

 

At Egremont, Mr. Wm. HANNAY, formerly a surgeon in that town, aged 45. 

 

At Bowderdale, in Netherwasdale, Mr. John WASTEL, aged 87. 

 

In Ennerdale, Mr. Thos. JACKSON, of Hunter How, aged 56 years.-Also, Hannah, his daughter, aged 10 years. 

 

At Drist, Mr. J. JACKSON, aged 21 years;-also his brother, W. JACKSON, aged 7 years. 

 

Mr. John WALKER, of Lanefoot, aged 85 years. 

 

At Maxwelltown, near Dumfries, on the 27th ult., Mary, daughter of Mr. John MILLIGAN, architect. 

 

At Dumfries, on the 27th ult., after a lingering illness, Miss H. D. HAYLAND, daughter of Mr. William HAYLAND, tin-smith.-Same day
and place, Mary, youngest daughter of Mr. David CROSBIE, merchant.-Same place, on the 30th ult., Mary Anne, youngest daughter of
William MILLAR, Esq., late major in the horse-guards.-Also, on the same day and place, Mr. John BROWN, grocer, much respected.
