I found Patrick McQuade of interest – I have McQuades from County Tyrone in the early 1800s including a couple of Patricks, and this might be a useful lead.
I do wonder what criteria is used for the sentencing of these prisoners. There seems to be no consistency and maybe depended on what the judge had for lunch r whether or not he’d had a good night’s sleep…..some were transported, others sentenced to death, and yet others were imprisoned for one year, etc, all for the same offence.
