DEATHS. 

 

On Sunday last, in this city, aged 73, Mrs. Mary CREIGHTON, wife of Mr. Fortunatus CREIGHTON, innkeeper, Scotch-street, much
respected. 

 

On Wednesday last, in Botchergate, aged 60, Mr. John IRVING, bricklayer, universally lamented. 

 

On Friday, the 14th instant, Elizabeth SAUNDERS, of Irish-gate damside, aged 83 years.-On the 17th, William NICHOLSON, of
Rickergate, aged 97.-On the 18th, Mary IRVING, of Caldewgate, aged 43. 

 

On Sunday last, Mrs. Elizabeth BELL, daughter of Mr. John STUBBS, of Upperby, aged 28 years. 

 

Very suddenly, on Saturday last, in Rickergate, Mrs. Sarah HETHERINGTON, late of Saul Main. 

 

At Penrith, on Sunday, Mary, the wife of Fergus CRONE, aged 63.-On Monday, at Barton, near Penrith, Ann, the wife of Joseph TODD;
and on the same day her infant child. 

 

On Thursday last, at Laversdale, near Brampton, Mr. Richard BOWMAN, aged 51, formerly master of a Newcastle trading vessel. 

 

On the 15th of May last, at the island of St. Vincent, Capt. BURTON, of the Brig, Hero, of Whitehaven.-On the 18th inst. at
Whitehaven, Mrs. BURTON, wife of the said Capt. BURTON. 

 

Sunday last, at Knockupboard, near this city, universally regretted, Mr. Thomas GRAHAM, aged 31, after a tedious illness of some
years. 

 

Last week, aged 64, Mr. John VARTY, of Kirkoswald, a man much distinguished for his knowledge in Agriculture, and highly respected
throughout the County. 

 

At Whitehaven, in Lowther-street, Mrs. PONSONBY, a maiden lady, in her 60th year.-In New-street, Mrs. Ann MOFFAT, widow, aged 60. 

 

Sunday last, at Chapel-House, near Hensingham, Mrs. JACKSON, wife of Mr. Thomas JACKSON, in the prime of life, and greatly
regretted. 

 

Friday last, at Carleton-Hall, near Ravenglass, Cuthbert ATKINSON, Esq. several years principal steward to the late, and to the
present Lord Muncaster. 

 

Mrs. Esther TAYLOR, of Kirkland, aged 60.-Mrs. Eliz. CASTLEHOW, of Kendal.-Mrs. Margaret HARTLEY, of Kendal, aged 76.-At Gatebeck,
near Kendal, aged 93, Thomas ROBINSON, one of the Society of Friends.-At Appleby, Margaret, wife of Mr. James WILSON. 

 

In London, on the 25th ult. aged 25 years, Lieut. Hugh M'Lachlane SHARP, of the 21st regt. a native of the parish of Balmaghie,
Scotland. Some years ago he entered a private in the 85th; but his qualifications and orderly conduct quickly raised him to the rank
of serjeant-major, and last year his distinguished bravery was rewarded with a lieutenancy and adjutancy in the 21st. The severe
service he had undergone in the Peninsula and in America, threw him into a decline, which carried him off on his way home from
France. 

 

At Huntley, on the 7th inst. Lady Anne CHALMERS, sister to his Grace the Duke of Gordon. 

 

At Dumfries, on Friday se'nnight, in the prime of life, Mr. Robert DICKSON, surgeon, much respected and esteemed, and whose loss
will long be regretted by his friends and acquaintance. He executed the office of Treasurer to the Infirmary for several years, and
at the general meeting of the Governors in May last, when Mr. DICKSON's health would no longer permit him to retain the situation,
he received their unanimous thanks for his unremitting attention to the interests of that useful establishment. 

 

On the 14th inst. at his house in South Castle-street, Edinburgh, the Hon. Allan MACCONOCHIE, Lord Meadowbank, one of the Senators
of the College of Justice. His Lordship came to the bar in 1770, and was called to the bench in 1796. Lord Meadowbank's professional
character stood very high; and in acuteness and rigour of intellect, it is generally admitted that he had few equals. In private
life he was universally respected.
