Thursday, in this city, Mr. Wm. M'LEOWNAN, of the Glasgow warehouse, Scotch-street, to Miss Sarah THOMPSON, straw-hat-maker. 

 

On Monday, the 28th ult. at Gretna, Mr. Joseph HOGG, to Miss Elizabeth HALL, both of Great Salkeld, near Kirkoswald. 

 

On the 28th ult. Mr. DOUGLAS, of Whitrigg, to Miss TOWNSEND, of Lazonby. 

 

At Penrith, on Tuesday last, Mr. Joseph RODGER, to Miss Elizabeth STORY, both of that place. 

 

On Sunday last, at Crosscannonby, by the Rev. Mr. DONALD, Mr. Joseph RAVEN, mariner, to Miss Sarah JORDAN, both of Maryport. 

 

The 28th ult. at Lamplugh, Mr. Lancelot SUMPTON, of Asby, in this county, to Mrs. Hannah DICKINSON, of Cocken. 

 

Lately, at Gretna, Mr. Edward NIXON, son of Mr. John NIXON, of Grinsdale, to Miss TODD, daughter of Mr. Jas. TODD, of Kirklinton.

At Annan, on the 1st curt. Mr. George HAINING, merchant in Dumfries, to Miss NEILSON, second daughter of Mr. Robert NEILSON,
merchant. 

 

DIED. 

 

On Monday last, at Harraby, near this city, after a lingering indisposition, aged 19 years, Thomas, only son of Mr. STEPHENSON, of
that place; a youth of an amiable and generous disposition, and whose untimely fate is deeply lamented by his surviving relatives
and acquaintance. 

 

At Brampton, on the 5th inst. Mr. JACKSON, boot and shoe-maker, aged 57. 

 

At Wigton, on Wednesday last, aged 50, Mrs. Jane THOMPSON. 

 

At Gilsland, on Saturday last, Mrs. OTTER, a valetudinarian, wife of C. OTTER, Esq. near Morpeth, in Northumberland, at an advanced
age. 

 

At Wigton, on Tuesday, Mary, wife of Mr. John THOMPSON, dyer, aged 50. 

 

In Whitehaven, on Tuesday se'nnight, very suddenly, Capt. Jos. MITCHELL, of the ship Dale. 

 

Suddenly, a few days ago, at Egremont, aged 23, Miss Mary BROCKBANK, of Flimby. 

 

Lately, at Eaglesfield Cragg, parish of Brigham, Mr. THOMLISON, formerly of Southwaite, in the prime of life. 

 

Suddenly, on Wednesday last, Mrs. PRITT, of the King's Arms inn, Lancaster. 

 

At Annan, on Saturday last, Thomas JOHNSTONE, Esq. of Gutterbraes, aged 84. 

 

At Dumfries, on the 29th ult. John James Thomson HEPBURN, aged 19 years. 

 

Same place, on the 31st ult. Mrs. Janet M'TURK, aged 75, relict of Mr. James RENWICK, late in Glencairn. 

 

The 26th ult. in London, John SPALDING, Esq. of Holm and Shirmess, late M. P. for New Galloway. 

 

On the 30th ult. at Carmarthen, Mrs. ALMS, wife of Vice-Admiral ALMS, R. N. 

 

On the 29th ult. at his brother's house, in Cheltenham, in the 34th year of his age, Mr. Isaac NICHOLSON, formerly of Basco-dyke,
British-lace merchant, Dublin. His early death has caused a blank in society which will be pungently felt, and long regretted:-he
was a strenuous advocate for and an active promoter of the interests of commerce, an intelligent and worthy neighbour, a faithful
and sympathetic friend, and an endearing relation; whose dissolution has excited sentiments of sorrow in the breasts of his
surviving kindred; which, indeed, may be alleviated by time, but can be obliterated only by death. 

 

Tuesday se'nnight, in London, aged 60, Philip STANHOPE, Earl of Chesterfield. His Lordship succeeded his relative, the celebrated
Earl of Chesterfield, in 1773, and married, in 1777, Anne, daughter of T. THISTLETHWAITE, Doctor of Divinity, who died in 1792. His
Lordship married, secondly, in 1799, Lady Henrietta THYNNE, sister of the Marquis of Bath, by whom he has left issue, viz.
Elizabeth, born in 1800; Elizabeth Georgina, born in 1802, to whom their Majesties and the Princess Augusta stood sponsors, in
person, and a son, George Augustus Frederick Lord STANHOPE, born May 23, 1805, the present Earl.
