PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION. 

 

AT a GENERAL MEETING of the Gentlemen, Clergy, Merchants, Manufacturers, and Inhabitants of the City and Neighbourhood of CARLISLE,
held at the Town-Hall, agreeable to Public Notice, on Thursday, the 13th day of July, 1815, 

 

THOMAS BLAMIRE, Esq. Mayor, in the Chair, 

 

Resolved-That a General Subscription of all Classes be now opened for the Relief and Benefit of the Families of the brave Men
Killed, and of the Wounded Soldiers of the British Army, under the Command of his Grace the Duke of WELLINGTON, in the late glorious
but bloody Victory of WATERLOO, and in the several Battles which have been or may be fought during the present Campaign in France. 

 

Resolved-That a Committee be appointed to conduct and promote the Subscription, and that the Committee consist of the following
Gentlemen; viz. 

 

FOR ENGLISH-STREET. 

 

Mr. Thomas ATKINSON, Mr. William HALTON, Mr. Peter DIXON, Mr. John THOMPSON, Mr. WALDIE, and Mr. T. C. HEYSHAM. 

 

SCOTCH-STREET. 

 

Mr. Rowland COWPER, Mr. HUNTON, Mr. RAILTON, Mr. LONSDALE, Mr. RELPH, and Mr. WARWICK. 

 

CASTLE-STREET. 

 

Mr. Wm. SIMON, Mr. John FORSTER, junior, Hugh JAMES, M. D. Mr. Rich. LOWRY, and Rev. Mr. BRIGGs. 

 

FISHER-STREET. 

 

Mr. Wm. HODGSON, Mr. John FORSTER, Mr. John CONNELL, Mr. Francis STODART, and Mr. Robert FERGUSON. 

 

ABBEY-STREET. 

 

Major MOUNSEY, Capt. STORDY, Rev. Mr. ANDERSON, Mr. John DIXON, and Mr. Robert MARSHALL.

BOTCHERGATE. 

 

Rev. Mr. FAWCETT, Capt. HALTON, Mr. Joseph STODART, Mr. Monkhouse HEAD, and Mr. STUDHOLME. 

 

Resolved-That Mr. John WALDIE and Mr. John CONNELL, jun. be appointed Treasurers. 

 

Resolved-That Subscriptions be taken at all the Banks in the City, at the Coffee-Room, at Mr. B. SCOTT's, the Printer of the
Patriot, and at the Journal Office. 

 

Resolved-That the Amount of the Subscriptions be transmitted to the Committee for conducting the Waterloo Subscription at the City
of London Tavern, by the Chairman. 

 

Resolved-That these Resolutions, and a List of the Subscribers, be published in the PATRIOT, and CARLISLE JOURNAL.

Resolved-That the Thanks of the Meeting be given to the Chairman. 

 

A Meeting of the Committee will take place at the Town Hall, on Monday Morning next, the 17th inst. at Ten o'clock, when a punctual
Attendance is requested.
