It is with deep regret we have to announce to our readers the death of Dr. WATSON, of Dalston, occasioned by a fall from his horse,
when on his return from visiting his patients near Raughton-head, on the evening of the 12th inst. He was seen about 6 o'clock by a
person repairing some road, within a hundred and fifty yards of the place where he had fallen, riding very fast, and to all
appearance his horse had run away with him, as it appeared quite unmanageable. It is supposed he had lain about an hour and a
quarter; and as he bore no marks of any material injury, it is imagined, from the posture in which he was found, and the appearance
of his hat, that he died from a violent concussion on the brain.-Dr. WATSON's character may perhaps be best judged of by the general
lamentations that were made when the melancholy event was known, and the vast concourse of sorrowing friends that accompanied his
corpse to the silent tomb. A practice of twenty-three years had endeared and entitled him to the esteem and confidence of an
extensive and respectable neighbourhood; for his promptness when called to the aid of suffering indigence, or his more wealthy
patients, was alike ready and chearful. He died in the 48th year of his age, and has left an afflicted widow and seven children,
with many other relatives and acquaintance, to lament the untimely fate of an affectionate husband, father, and friend.
