BIRTH. 

 

On the 7th, at Catch Hall, near Lockerbie, Mrs. JOHNSTONE was safely delivered of a son and heir. Mr. JOHNSTONE has had four wives;
this is his only child, though he is nearly 80 years of age. 

 

MARRIED. 

 

At Crosscannonby, on Monday last, Mr. John HEWTSON, of Ireby, in this county, to Miss Margaret HOLLIDAY, of the Grapes inn,
Maryport. 

 

At Kirkcudbright, upon the 5th inst. Mr. Edw. HYSLOP, writer, Dumfries, to Mary, eldest daughter of Wm. BROWN, Esq. of Linkons. 

 

DIED. 

 

On Saturday last, by a fall from his horse, Mr. DODGSON, of Beck, near Brampton. 

 

The 3d inst. George, son of Mr. John KIRKBRIDGE, cabinet-maker, of Penrith, aged 15. 

 

Tuesday se'nnight, in Whitehaven, Mrs. GRAYSON, aged 66, wife of Mr. James GRAYSON. 

 

At Cummertrees, near Annan, on the 29th ult. Mr. Wm. Douglas GIBSON, to Miss Christina HENDERSON. 

 

In Gateshead, on Saturday last, aged 46, the Rev. W. Mac.CONNELL, upwards of 20 years pastor of the Presbyterian congregation there.


 

The 31st ult. the Rev. John STUBBS, aged 66, sub-curate of Falstone, Northumberland. 

 

The 31st ult. aged 65, at Leeds, Ciciley, relict of the late Mr. Thomas CREWDSON, of Kendal; one of the Society of Friends. 

 

On board the ship Cumberland, on her passage from Jamaica to Whitehaven (where she arrived last Sunday), Mr. John CHRISTIE, a native
of Scotland, who had resided in Jamaica about forty years, and acquired with the fairest character a very large fortune; supposed
not less than a hundred thousand pounds. 

 

The 22d ult. aged 22. William, the second son of W. KIRKBANK, Esq. of Beckside, in Wicham. 

 

Lately, in London, aged 87, Mr. W. NICHOLSON, a native of Netherwasdale, and printer of the Weekly Dispatch, a London newspaper. 

 

At Crossmona, county Mayo, aged 112, Thos. GANGHAN. [Other newspapers have his surname as GAUGHAN.]
