Yesterday, the wife of Mr. JAMES, surgeon, of this city, of a daughter. 

 

MARRIED. 

 

At St. Cuthbert's, on Monday, Mr. Thomas SHORT, to Miss Mary MORGAN. 

 

At St. Mary's, on Sunday, Mr. John GRAHAM, to Miss Isabella NISBETT. 

 

Same place, on Thursday, Mr. John BATY, to Miss Mary WOOD. 

 

On Monday last, at Hutton, by the Rev. John ARMSTRONG, Mr. Richard BROWN, jun. of Unthank end, to Miss Ann SMITH, of Grassknopend. 

 

Saturday last, at Whitehaven, John FALCON, Esq. Paymaster-General at the Cape of Good Hope, to Isabella, 5th daughter of the late
Rev. T. SPEDDING, A. M. of Whitehaven. 

 

Same place, yesterday week, Mr. Andrew MILLIGAN, to Jane, second daughter of the late Capt. Thos. FELL. 

 

In Kendal, on Thursday se'nnight, Mr. David CLINTON, to Miss Bridget SMITH. 

 

At Kirkcudbright, on Monday the 5th inst. Captain David HARDY, of Kirkcudbright, to Elizabeth, daughter of Capt. BRATNEY, of the
same place. 

 

DIED. 

 

A few days since, Mr. Walter ARMSTRONG, of Kersop-foot, parish of Kirkandrews-on-Esk. He will be long remembered as a good neighbour
and worthy man. 

 

On the 8th inst. at Penrith, Elizabeth, the wife of Mr. George NICHOLSON, aged 36 years. 

 

Wednesday se'nnight, in Whitehaven, aged 65, Mrs. PIPER, widow, one of the Society of Friends. 

 

Monday se'nnight, after a severe and lingering illness, Mary, the wife of John NIXON, of Nook, in Bewcastle, aged 35. 

 

Lately, in Ireland, George GOULDING, Esq. of London, musical instrument manufacturer, &c. a native of Kirkoswald, in this county. 

 

SUDDEN DEATHS.-Sunday week, at Wakefield, Mr. Richard TUCKER, of Manchester, aged 54, for many years a most respectable commercial
traveller. He was found a corpse in bed.-On Sunday, aged 24, Miss PARISH, milliner, of Exeter. She was in perfect health at the
house of a neighbour, and, with a few friends, was just about to proceed to church to attend the ceremony of a christening; but
while in the act of kissing the child, she dropped down and expired immediately.-Very suddenly, at Penzance, in the prime of life,
Captain James WOODRIDGE, of the Royal Navy. This gallant officer commanded the Mediator frigate, under Lord COCHRANE, at Basque
Roads, and had the honour of breaking the enemy's boom, for which he was presented a gold chain and medal.-On Monday se'nnight, in
the prime of life, Mr. John GRIGG, of the White Hart, Queen-street, Portsea: having been in an infirm state of health for some time,
on his retiring to bed, he remarked how much better he then felt than he had for some time-he was a corpse before any reply could be
made-he fell instantly lifeless.-On Wednesday se'nnight, Mr. HICKS, of Doncaster, was found dead in his room.-Monday, Mr. DOWIE, of
Edinburgh, dropped down in a shop in the Lukenbooths, and instantly expired.
