DIED.
On the 17th inst. in Fisher-street, aged 88, Miss Mary ATKINSON.
Sunday last, in Botchergate, Mrs. Ann BOIVER, aged 34.
Monday last, in English-street, Mr. Joseph RICHARDSON, formerly an ironmonger in Penrith, aged 40.
At Stocklewath, in this county, on the 27th ult. Mr. Timothy BROWN, aged 80 years.
On Wednesday, the 9th inst. to the very deep regret of his family and friends, the Rev. W. NORRIS, aged 29, the dissenting minister
at Alston, formerly a student of the Dissenting College at Rotherham. He has officiated at Alston nearly six years, with great
acceptance and extensive usefulness. Having consecrated himself, in early life, to the service of God, he became a character of
superior attainments and eminent piety; and he was enabled, by divine grace, to maintain that character with credit and advantage.
Though confident of his blissful exchange, his departure will be lamented by many, and especially in this northern district, where
Christian Ministers of similar dispositions, integrity, and usefulness, are so rarely found. His remains were interred, on Monday
last, in the church-yard at Alston, amidst a very numerous concourse of weeping friends. May the decease of this valuable young
minister of the gospel prove a seasonable caution for the young in particular to "prepare to meet their God!" [Correction in the
following week's paper: He was interred in the chapel-yard, as the dissenters at Alston have a burial-ground attached to their
meeting-house.]
