Hello group,This is my first posting and I have a puzzle to solve.I have a book containing a collection of handwriting sample sheets done by the children at Mr.Ashbridge's Mathematical and Commercial School, Bowness. Carlisle archivists have no record of this establishment. The frontspiece has a presentation written which states "To dear Mrs. Graydon with Mrs. Milbourne's love and best wishes, Chiswick, London, May 1909" The sample pages are dated 1838 as are the children's letters. Does anyone on the group have any references or historical information about the school and if so, where was it situated. An interesting fact which shows the accuracy of the dates is a comment about an accident which befell a horse rider going on a visit. The rider was unseated and injured and a few years ago now a newspaper entry was found describing the same incident and date. I haven't been able to find my copy of the cutting unfortunately.RegardsPeter Graydon Sent from Samsung tablet.
