In Shrewsbury workhouse (where he had been an inmate many years), Evan THOMAS, commonly called the Rev. Evan THOMAS, having once
been in orders; a character of singular eccentricity. He was a native of South Wales, and was classically versed in his vernacular
tongue; was brought up a printer, and was at one time a swift and correct compositor:-he left, however, his case and composing-stick
to take a flight among the stars, having since been a judicial astrologer, teacher of the black art, and a comet-hunter; he was the
Salopian Sir Isaac NEWTON, and would calculate eclipses till his head was often eclipsed by the bottle. Aided by the vox stellarum
he for years told fortunes, and had sweat-hearts [sic] and husbands of all prices for desponding damsels. With all his sky knowledge
the poor fellow was often out of sorts, till the walls of a workhouse received him, and death capp'd his balls in his 80th year.

*** In the obituary of Mr. MILES, the Master Gunner of our garrison, we stated his age to be 75.-We are requested to state that his
age was 74.
