On Wednesday last, in this city, Mr. John BURROW, to Miss Mary UDALE.
Monday se'nnight, at Dean, Mr. John FLETCHER, of Mockerkin, in Loweswater, to Miss HETHERINGTON, eldest daughter of Mr. John
HETHERINGTON, of Branthwaite Hall.
Sunday last, at Cross Cannoby, Captain GILPIN, of the ship Britannia, to Miss BROWN, both of Whitehaven.
On Tuesday se'nnight, at Bongate, Mr. STEPHENSON, solicitor, Appleby, to Miss SHAW, sister of the Reverend H. SHAW, vicar of
Bongate.
Tuesday, at Hull, Mr. T. F. WILSON, of Carlisle, to Mary, daughter of Mr. Bethel DANBY, of the former place.
On Saturday week, Mr. William BENTLEY, printer, of Liverpool, late of Manchester, to Miss Mary LAY, of Ulverstone. [They were
married at St. Peter, Liverpool, and the bride's surname was RAY, not LAY.]
On Sunday week, at Ormskirk, Mr. Michael HARRISON, of Newbro', aged 74, to Miss Elizabeth WHELLEY, of the same place, a blooming
girl of 46 years of age.
At Binfield, G. W. V. VILLIERS, Esq. royal horse guards, (blue) to Eleanor, eldest daughter of Sir James NASMYTH, Bart. of New
Posso, Peebles-shire.
DIED.
A few days ago, at Wigton, at an advanced age, Mrs. Sarah CORBETT, widow. She was found dead in her bed.
On the 15th inst. universally respected, Mr. Christopher LITTLE, of Butterhill, in the parish of Bewcastle, in this county, aged
100. He gained an humble but honest independence, as tenant of the small farm of Butterhill, which has been occupied by him and his
ancestors for nearly two centuries.
Lately, in Whitehaven, Mrs. Rachael JACKSON, widow, aged 73.
Tuesday se'nnight, at Alnwick, aged 76, Thomas CASTLES, Esq. formerly Major of the 66th regiment of foot.
A few days ago, at Heights, near Appleby, Mr. T. YATE, aged 93.
Thursday, the 10th inst. at Kirkland in Lamplugh, in the 28th year of his age, Mr. Jonathan SIMPSON, late teacher of the mathematics
at the grammar school at Appleby.
On Saturday last, Mr. Joseph DIXON, ironmonger, Newcastle.
Sunday, in Newcastle, Mr. John KIDD, of the Ordnance department.
Thursday se'nnight, at an advanced age, Mr. John ATLAY, of Dewsbury, near Leeds; formerly the confidential friend of the late Rev.
J. WESLEY. He was an eminent preacher in the Methodist connection.
The 12th inst. at Stockwell, near London, after surviving her husband only a few months, Mrs. John BARCLAY, second daughter of the
late Mr. John RUMNEY, of Whitehaven.
In London, on the 14th instant, aged 74, the Hon. Louis DUFF, brother to the late Earl of Fife.
Thursday se'nnight, Mr. Baldwin MARTIN, tidesman at Newabbey, in the Port of Dumfries.
Suddenly, on Saturday last, at Powrie, in Forfarshire, the Hon. Charles HAY, Lord Newton, one of the Senators of the College of
Justice.
