MARRIED.
In this city, Mr. James MILLER, to Miss Jane GOWLIN.
Sunday last, at Whitehaven, Mr. CURWEN, grocer, to Miss YORK, of same place.
Lately, at Rufford, in Lancashire, the Rev. Thomas CLARK, to Mrs. Elizabeth Malvina Womack YOUNG. They became first acquainted on
the preceding Thursday, concluded the match on Friday, procured a licence on Saturday, were married on Sunday, and have been happy
ever since!
At Dumfries, on the 19th inst. Mr. Thomas POTTER, of the Crown Inn, to Miss Mary PATTISON.
On Monday, the 19th instant, at Cartmel, Mr. John BARROW, of Kendal, mercer and draper, to Miss E. B. WREN, of Holkar, near to the
former place.
At Edinburgh, Mr. PILLANS, Rector of the High School of Edinburgh, to Miss Helen THOMSON, daughter of the late Rev. Thomas THOMSON,
minister of Dailly.
At Llanelley, John DAVID, aged 77, to Mary THOMAS, aged 17.
On the 8th inst. at Colchester, Charles Foster CHARLETON, Esq. paymaster of the Northumberland regiment of militia, to Jane,
youngest daughter of Archibald CAMPBELL, Esq. paymaster of detachments, eastern district.
DIED.
Saturday last, at Rockliff Cross, Mrs. Jane WILKIN, aged 48.
At Edinburgh, on the 11th inst. after a lingering illness, aged 27, Mrs. Jane HODGSON, wife of Mr. Wm. HODGSON, printer; formerly of
this city.
A few days ago, at Carleton, Mr. James MURRAY, at an advanced age; and on Sunday last, Mrs. MURRAY, wife of the above, and sister to
Mr. John TOMLINSON, of Hesket.
On the 11th inst. at Hesket, Mr. Humphrey GILL, in the 84th year of his age.
The 20th inst. at Linghouse, parish of Hesket, Miss Margaret SLACK.
At Penrith, on Sunday last, Mr. Thomas RAWSON, clock and watch maker, aged 93 years.
On Wednesday last, at Maryport, Mr. Joseph BURTON, shoemaker, aged 77.
On Wednesday se'nnight, at the house of his mother at Calthwaite, in Cumberland, Mr. Richard LAZONBY, many years a confidential
traveller to the House of Hugh and Ellis DUCKWORTH, distillers, Manchester.
Tuesday se'nnight, at Whitehaven, suddenly, Margaret, the wife of Mr. Wm DAVIS, aged 36.
Wednesday se'nnight, at same place, suddenly, James COURT, advanced in years.
Thursday se'nnight, at Hensingham, Eleanor, wife of Mr. Robert SWALLWOOD [SMALLWOOD according to the Cumberland Pacquet], aged 30.
The 7th inst. at Oldby, parish of Cleator, very suddenly, Mr. Wm. DIXON, aged 68.
The 18th inst. at Dumfries, Mr. James DENNISTON, weaver, much respected.
On the 26th Nov. last, in the East Indies, in the 22d year of his age, Lieutenant Joseph NICHOLSON, of his Majesty's 78th Highland
Regiment. Though young in years, he was old in experience,-having served with reputation to himself and advantage to his country,
during the campaign in Egypt and the ever glorious battle of Maida;-and as a gentleman, his memory will be long respected.
Wednesday se'nnight, aged 77, Mr. Richard GILLOW, of Lancaster, formerly a cabinet-maker.
Lately, aged 68, Mrs. SHEPHERD, relict of Thomas SHEPHERD, Esq. one of the Aldermen of Lancaster.
On the 8th inst. on his passage from London, Thomas ROBINSON, Esq. of Newcastle, many years one of the common council.
On the 14th inst. Mr. John FERRELLS, corkcutter, Dumfries, aged 24. He was found dead in one of the workshops, shortly after he had
taken his breakfast, and without having previously manifested any symptoms of indisposition.
Lately, at Worcester, Sarah SMITH, aged 108.
Lately, aged 104, John Alfred PARNELL. When 99 years of age, he walked seven miles within two hours, for a wager.
At his country residence at Camberwell, near London, Mr. Joseph MONK, a noted tenor bell artist in a long peal of
Oxford-Treble-Bob-Royal, (ten in.) and a member of the London College Youths.
At Cambridge University, a few days ago, Mr. George COOPER, an ancient change ringer, aged 94 years, who performed at the second
bell, Bob-Royal-Changes, within twelve months of his death at Great St. Mary's Church, in that city. He was the oldest change ringer
in the kingdom.
A few days ago, in London, Mr. Wm. Winstanly RICHARDSON, aged 78 years, a faithful attending member of the Society of London College
Youths, and an eminent change ringer, with the treble bell, in the intricate and scientific method of Oxford-Treble-Bob-Maximus,
(twelve in.) and also an excellent performer in a course of Eniques; being 198 changes, with two treble bells, or a musical peal of
twelve hand bells.
