[continued]

The Three Crowns Inn (Mrs. CHIRNEY), displayed a transparent painting of the Burning of Moscow; from the conflagration appeared a
Dove ascending, with the following inscription:-underneath "From the Flames of Moscow rose the Blessings of Peace."

Mr. BENTLEY, of Water-street, displayed much simplicity and elegance of taste in the following devices-The first was The Genius of
Eloquence on a Monument 'sacred to the Memory of the immortal PITT,' in the attitude of prying into futurity; rays of Glory bursting
from the skies, and a Cherub bearing a scroll inscribed "Peace." Motto,

"Visions of Glory spare my aching sight,

"Ye unborn ages crowd not on my soul."

The second device was Fame and Genius supporting a Monument-inscription,

"Sacred the Memory of Departed Heroes."

Carlisle Journal Office.-Amongst other Devices, decorations of ever-greens, "The Liberty of the Press," &c. was a representation of
Peace returning again to bless the world, under the emblem of a Dove, with a Branch of Olives in her bill, flying toward the
terrestrial Globe,-underneath the following words,

"When Peace descends, she bids her Olives spring,

"And scatters blessings from her dove-like wing."

Mr. George BAIRD's, watch-maker, Scotch-street, had a good effect. In the centre compartment of one window was a transparency of G.
III. R. and in the one underneath, Louis XVIII.; in the four corners were the names of the four allied nations, in different
colours, characteristic of their several countries.-The letters comprising the name of the french monarch were white.-In another
window were the inscription of various illustrious personages concerned in the deliverance of Europe.

Mrs. IRVING, Crown and Mitre Tavern, exhibited an elegant emblematic transparency-the Genius of Peace scattering flowers and
embracing Britannia, who supported the L***ed Banner of France.-Beneath, in large characters, the word Peace.

At Mrs. PALMER's, Castle-street,-"Britain, great in Liberty, lost to Tyrannic force, proclaims the Dawn of Peace!!!"

Mr. ANDERSON, plasterer, Golden Eagle, exhibited a variety of decorations. In one window G. R. surmounted by the words "Britons
United"-underneath "God save the King," and on each side "Peace" and "Plenty." On the right, a transparency of the Prince Regent,
with a scroll on which is inscribed "Peace:" on the left a figure of the Emperor Alexander. The greatest display of originality
consisted in the exhibition of a live Squirrel in a cage in the lower window, intended to represent BONAPARTE (a much more harmless
animal than its prototype by the bye);-on each side the words "Bony in the Isle of Elba;" in the same window, a figure of Lord
Wellington displaying the United Colours,--and a Statute [sic] of the chop-fallen Emperor, with a group of figures pulling it
down;-in caption on the pedestal, "Bourbons restored, and Tyranny Destroyed."

Mrs. Captain FORSTER's house, Castle-street, displayed great elegance and taste. In the centre window a crown and star, with G. III.
R. and G. P. R.; the Black Eagle, with the words Russia, Prussia, Austria. On the right of the centre window a transparency
representing History holding a scroll, on which were the names of the most distinguished leaders of the Allied armies, and the
evermost celebrated battles-Wellington, Schwartzenberg, BLUCHER, PLATOFF; Vittoria, Leipsic-the whole surmounted by Fame and her
trumpet, with the motto-"Glorious result of British Perseverance." On the left of the centre window a Pyramid, on which Fame was
inscribing the names of the brave who have died in the service of their country-PITT, NELSON, MOREAU, KUTUSOFF, MOORE, CADOGAN. On
the base of the Pyramid the lines:-

"So sleep the brave who sink to rest,

"With all their country's wishes blest."

Mottos-"The Tyrant destroyed," "Peace restored to the World," "Now man the brother lives the friend of man."
